Miguel Oliveira is expected to be absent from the upcoming MotoGP races following a successful surgical procedure.
The Trackhouse racer met with an accident while preparing for the Indonesian MotoGP at Mandalika.
Oliveira was airlifted to a medical facility, where it was determined that he had sustained several fractures to his radius bone.
Oliveira's announcement has now clarified: “He received immediate medical attention at the track's medical facility, after which he was transported to a nearby hospital for a thorough evaluation of his injuries.
Following diagnostic examinations, the break was realigned and stabilized.
Following the incident, the cyclist from Almada proceeded to Lisbon, where he received assistance from Dr. Gonçalo Morais Sarmento and his medical crew at the Sant'Ana Hospital in Parede. During his stay, a metal plate was inserted to secure the bone in place.
Miguel Oliveira is set for a cautious healing process, emphasizing the surgical procedure's effectiveness. The initial seven days will involve complete rest, after which he will assess and determine the most suitable approach to return to motorcycle racing at the earliest opportunity.
Currently, all signs suggest that the racer will miss the upcoming two competitions in Japan and Australia.
Trackhouse announced that Miguel was taken to Sant’Ana Hospital in Parede, Lisbon, on Monday, where he underwent surgery. Dr. Gonçalo Morais Sarmento and his medical team successfully implanted a plate to secure the bone.
"Miguel is set to take a break throughout the week as his rehabilitation strategy undergoes evaluation."
"Once the date of his comeback is solidified, the team will share additional information."
