**”Ricciardo Apologizes After Hulkenberg Clash, Receives Double Penalty at Chaotic Italian GP”**
Daniel Ricciardo speaks about his collision with Nico Hulkenberg: “I believed there was enough room; I said sorry”
Daniel Ricciardo addresses the incident involving Haas during the F1 Italian Grand Prix.
Daniel Ricciardo mentioned that he apologized to Nico Hulkenberg after they collided on the first lap of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
During the first lap of Sunday’s race at Monza, Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo found himself in a tussle with Nico Hulkenberg in the midfield, leading to a collision between the two at Turn 8.
Ricciardo mentioned that he believed there was enough room, but he experienced a collision – resulting in Hulkenberg's Haas being pushed onto the dirt and losing a position to his teammate Kevin Magnussen.
The Australian driver initially received a five-second penalty for the incident, but later had to face a 10-second penalty because one of his mechanics made contact with his car during his pit stop while he was serving the initial penalty.
Ricciardo concluded a difficult race at home for the Red Bull team in 13th place.
“We simply didn’t have the speed today, regardless of the penalties,” he commented.
"We gave it our best shot, and I was having fun with the close racing at the beginning, but I ended up colliding with Nico at Turn 8."
"After the race, I talked to him. I believed there was enough space, but I felt the collision, so I didn't leave sufficient room and I said sorry."
"It's challenging because you put in maximum effort, but even the tiniest differences can have a big impact."
"The car was performing well, and we pushed it to its limits with what we had available. I aimed to extract the most from the car from Friday afternoon through to today."
"I personally feel much better this weekend, and we nearly earned some points."
Tsunoda 'Frustrated' After Italian GP
Team Laurent Mekies stated that the Italian Grand Prix was influenced by Hulkenberg, as a crash involving Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda led to the Japanese driver's race coming to an early end.
"I feel quite disappointed; it's unfortunate that my race ended just a few laps after it began because of a collision with Nico," stated Tsunoda.
"I attempted to give him plenty of room, but it appeared he froze up, lost control, and collided with me."
“Regrettably, we had to withdraw the car from the race due to damage sustained to the floor.
"I noticed it immediately and attempted to keep going, but the vehicle was swerving, and I just couldn't control it."
"Up next are Baku and Singapore; our vehicle is expected to do well on these tracks, so we are optimistic about having successful weekends."
Mekies is upset about the Tsunoda incident because it cost him crucial track time with the newly updated RB car at Monza.
"Regarding today's race, it can be said that Hulkenberg set the pace. Daniel received a five-second penalty for pushing him off the track. Following that, Nico collided with Yuki, which resulted in us having to retire the car," he stated.
"The most disappointing part of Yuki's retirement is missing out on 40 laps that could have helped us learn more about the new updates we brought in."
"Daniel was given an additional 10-second penalty as we failed to properly carry out the initial one."
"We must re-evaluate our processes in such cases and take lessons from the error made today. Although incidents like this occur, our pit crew's performance has largely been outstanding this season."
