**”Ricciardo Apologizes After Hulkenberg Clash at Italian GP: Penalties and Frustration for RB Team”**
Daniel Ricciardo comments on the incident with Nico Hulkenberg, saying, “I believed there was enough room; I have since apologised.”
Ricciardo responds to the collision involving Haas during the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
Daniel Ricciardo mentioned that he offered an apology to Nico Hulkenberg after they had a collision on the first lap of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
Red Bull driver Ricciardo and Hulkenberg were contending for position in the middle of the pack during the first lap of Sunday’s race at Monza when they collided at Turn 8.
Ricciardo mentioned that he believed he had enough room, but then he felt a collision. This caused Hulkenberg's Haas to be pushed onto the dirt, allowing Kevin Magnussen, his teammate, to overtake him.
The Australian driver initially received a five-second penalty for the incident, but he was later required to serve an additional 10-second penalty because one of his mechanics touched his car during the original penalty at the pit stop.
Ricciardo finished a difficult race at his home track in 13th place for the Red Bull team.
“In the end, our speed wasn't sufficient today, even without factoring in the penalties,” he commented.
"We gave it our best shot, and I was having a great time battling side-by-side at the beginning, but I ended up colliding with Nico in Turn 8."
"After the race, I had a conversation with him. I initially believed there was enough space, but I realized we made contact, so I didn't leave sufficient room. I apologized for that."
"It's challenging because you give it your all, yet even the tiniest differences can be crucial."
"The car performed adequately, and we gave our all with the resources available. Since Friday afternoon, I have been striving to extract the utmost performance from the vehicle."
"I personally feel much improved this weekend, and we nearly earned some points."
Tsunoda expressed his frustration
The Italian Grand Prix for RB was significantly influenced by Hulkenberg, as stated by team member Laurent Mekies. A crash involving the Haas driver and Yuki Tsunoda led to the Japanese driver's race coming to an early end.
"I'm quite frustrated; it's unfortunate that my race ended just a few laps in because of a collision with Nico," said Tsunoda.
"I attempted to give him ample room, but it appeared that he froze up, leading to a loss of control and colliding with me."
"Regrettably, we had to withdraw the car from the race due to damage sustained to the floor."
"I immediately sensed the issue and attempted to keep going, but the vehicle was skidding and I just couldn't control it."
"We're heading to Baku and Singapore next. Our vehicle is expected to do well at those locations, so we're optimistic about having successful weekends coming up."
Mekies is upset about the Tsunoda incident because it cost him important time on the track with the new RB car that was brought to Monza.
"Regarding today's race, it can be stated that Hulkenberg set the pace. Daniel received a five-second penalty for pushing him off the track. Subsequently, Nico collided with Yuki, which resulted in our decision to retire the car," he explained.
One of the most exasperating parts of Yuki's retirement is that it cost us 40 laps, which could have enhanced our comprehension of the new updates we implemented at this location.
"Daniel was given an additional 10-second penalty due to a mistake in carrying out the initial penalty."
"We must reassess our procedures in this situation and take lessons from today's error. Although incidents like this occur, our pit crew has typically performed outstandingly this season."
