Red Bull Faces Turbulent Times: Ex-F1 Driver Ralf Schumacher Warns of Imminent Shakeup Amid Mounting Pressure and Performance Issues
Red Bull issued a caution that "more people will be let go" as "pressure" increases.
"Due to the uncertainty and dissatisfaction, more personnel changes are expected."
Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher has cautioned that significant changes are likely at Red Bull as the team faces increasing pressure due to their recent lackluster performance.
McLaren is now only eight points behind Red Bull after the Italian Grand Prix, putting Red Bull's lead in the F1 constructors' championship in jeopardy.
Concerningly for Red Bull, they appear to lack a definitive explanation for their recent string of disappointing results in races.
At Monza, it was evident that they were the fourth quickest team, with Max Verstappen managing to secure only a sixth-place finish.
In an interview with Sky Germany, Schumacher expressed a negative opinion about Red Bull.
"To be frank, I don't think this is going to work anymore. As far as I'm concerned, Red Bull is done for the time being," Schumacher stated. "There's a lot of unpredictability, and more people will likely be let go due to this unpredictability and their dissatisfaction."
“The next step involves initiating reconstruction, utilizing both new recruits and existing personnel. Naturally, they will face significant pressure from various directions. This situation is likely to trigger a series of events, as numerous elements are now influencing the process, especially given the rapid pace of Formula 1.”
"I've seldom witnessed a team decline so significantly over the course of a season. No other instance comes to mind."
"We will soon be racing on tracks that require more downforce, which appears to favor Red Bull, but this issue is likely to persist even on those circuits."
Although Lando Norris secured a third-place finish at Monza, he managed to cut Verstappen's advantage to 62 points.
With only eight races remaining, Norris has a strong chance of winning this year’s drivers’ championship, especially if Red Bull's difficulties persist.
The driver who has won six F1 races views Norris as the leading contender for the championship.
"That's my perspective, indeed," he stated. "In the constructors' championship, McLaren seems to be the frontrunner. However, the fight for third place will be thrilling as both Mercedes and Ferrari have strong weekends and are competitive. They will all chip away at Red Bull's points."
"Currently, Verstappen holds a significant lead over the second-place contender. It's important to note that increased pressure often leads to more errors. For example, during a pit stop at Monza, they fumbled with a rear right tire change, prompting Verstappen to warn, 'Be careful, something's not right!'"
