Raul Fernandez Leads Aprilia’s Future Development with Positive Feedback at Misano Test
The sole Aprilia racer tasked with testing components for the 2025 season shares his insights
“We're focusing not only on the remainder of this year but also planning ahead for next year. I provided extensive feedback to Aprilia.”
Raul Fernandez, the sole Aprilia rider confirmed to stay with the team in 2025, participated in testing for the Noale-based manufacturer during today's one-day MotoGP test in Misano.
The Spanish motorcyclist, along with the other Aprilia riders, has encountered disappointing outcomes in the recent races. However, he was excited by the discoveries made during the test.
"We had a productive day," Fernandez mentioned. "We grasped a lot of concepts and now it's important to evaluate our current position, particularly following the last two races where our performance has not been very strong."
"Moving forward, it's essential that we comprehend the lessons we've learned today."
"Our efforts extend beyond this year as we are also preparing for the upcoming year, and I have provided extensive feedback to Aprilia."
"We currently have two distinct approaches for returning, and I'm quite pleased to have had the opportunity to test here and gather some insights."
"I am extremely happy and grateful to Aprilia for their dedication to enhancing the bike. In summary, the test went exceptionally well for our team."
Fernandez was evaluating a diffuser placed beneath the seat, along with several other components.
As Fernandez concentrated on plans extending into 2025, his present Trackhouse Aprilia teammate, Miguel Oliveira—who will be joining Pramac Yamaha—was aiming to enhance his performance in preparation for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Misano, scheduled in less than a fortnight.
Oliveira mentioned that the team experienced a sluggish beginning due to the track conditions this morning. However, they managed to conduct some work and collected crucial data to determine the best approach for the second round here.
"Although not all of our attempts were successful, they provided us with a better understanding of the path to take. We experimented with the engine brake and made minor adjustments to the electronics for improved consistency. That sums it up."
"Naturally, we're not entirely satisfied since we aimed to achieve better performance today and bring everything together, but we're confident we'll manage to do it at the right time, which is next weekend."
