Pramac Yamaha Teases 2025 Rider Line-Up Announcement Amidst Misano Rounds: Oliveira and Miller Tipped to Join
Pramac Yamaha clarifies reasons behind postponement in announcing their 2025 racing team
Pramac's head discusses team selection, transition to Yamaha, and ambitious upcoming projects
Pramac Yamaha has announced their commitment to unveiling their MotoGP team roster for 2025 within this month.
It is highly anticipated that they will announce Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller as their latest pair.
Nonetheless, it appears that the upcoming Misano races this weekend won't bring any official announcements.
"Gino Borsoi, the team leader of Pramac, has confirmed to TNT Sports that the selection of their riders has been finalized, a fact that is widely acknowledged."
"We will disclose our upcoming plans either during the initial Misano race this weekend or in the second event at Misano starting September 20."
Borsoi was questioned about the delay in revealing their new riders.
"He emphasized that only a few particulars were needed, nothing more."
The group appears to have chosen seasoned expertise over emerging stars from Moto2.
Trackhouse has secured Oliveira and KTM has signed Miller, both of whom are grand prix champions.
Miller's decision to join Pramac Yamaha in 2025 will be a lifeline for his MotoGP career. After parting ways with KTM and not securing a position with any other teams, he was on the brink of exiting the series before Pramac offered him an opportunity.
The Pramac squad is undergoing a significant transformation by transitioning from Ducati equipment to Yamaha.
Joining forces with Yamaha as a satellite team will allow the Japanese company to once again expand their lineup to four motorcycles on the racing grid.
This is considered an essential phase in their progression towards regaining their former greatness.
Borsoi is thrilled, stating, "Absolutely. Yamaha is an outstanding manufacturer.
Historical records indicate that they have secured numerous titles. They possess considerable strength and have implemented a fresh organizational framework.
"We have confidence in them. There's been a remarkable progress over the last two years.
"Our attention is fully on the current season, yet we're also looking ahead and planning for what's next with Yamaha."
In an impressive turn of events, Pramac is at the forefront of the MotoGP championship standings.
Jorge Martin currently holds a 23-point advantage over Pecco Bagnaia in the overall rankings as they head into this weekend's race at Misano.
This implies that Pramac might conclude their partnership with Ducati by securing the championship ahead of the brand's leading factory rider.
"Borsoi mentioned that their focus is on competing for the championship with Jorge and considering Yamaha's interests."
"We're also dealing with a Moto2 team, so it's quite a challenging request that's been put forward."
While he couldn't divulge further information regarding Pramac Yamaha's intentions to establish a Moto2 team, he mentioned, "There are several riders we are considering."
