Pedro Acosta appeared to be a strong contender for the podium in the initial phases of the French MotoGP, only to fall out of contention due to a crash at turn seven.
In his initial significant error of 2024, Acosta once more emerged as the top KTM rider during his misstep, demonstrating remarkable promise.

The current Moto2 world champion crashed following an audacious attempt to overtake Fabio Di Giannantonio, having approached from a significant distance, only to lose control at the front.
Barely missing Di Giannantonio and Aleix Espargaro, who were in front as they approached the right turn, Acosta lost control and skidded off, narrowly avoiding a collision with the other two riders in what seemed like a fortunate turn of events for all involved.
"Actually, we got off to a pretty solid beginning," Acosta started. "We disconnected all the necessary parts at the perfect time. Our pace was impressive.
"Primarily, Diggia and Aleix were engaged in a contest right ahead of me at Turn 7, and possibly as they approached Turn 8, they veered too far to the right and applied their brakes a bit prematurely to make a left turn."

"In the final moments, my aim wasn't to collide with Aleix and ruin his race, so I attempted to brake and that's when I ended up locking the front wheel."
