Pecco Bagnaia Battles Neck and Shoulder Injuries Ahead of San Marino GP After Aragon Crash with Alex Marquez
Pecco Bagnaia "in considerable discomfort" following Alex Marquez incident at Aragon MotoGP
Francesco Bagnaia reported experiencing pain in his neck and shoulder after colliding with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP race.
Francesco Bagnaia has provided specifics about the injuries he sustained following his collision with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP last weekend.
The pair collided when Marquez veered off course at turn 12 during the 18th lap of the Grand Prix. Bagnaia, initially starting in third place but falling to seventh due to a slow start, was climbing back through the field and appeared poised to claim the last podium spot from Marquez.
The Italian rider attempted to capitalize on Marquez's mistake at turn 12 by making a move at turn 13, roughly a hundred meters later, but their collision caused both to crash out of the race.
Bagnaia experienced a difficult fall beneath Marquez's bike and subsequently visited the medical center.
In an interview with MotoGP.com following the Aragon race, Bagnaia mentioned experiencing "neck pain," but he noted, "it could be a lot worse, so I'm managing fine."

In an Instagram story, Bagnaia addressed the crash and mentioned that he was experiencing pain in his left shoulder.
In his statement, Bagnaia explained that he seized the opportunity when Alex Marquez went wide, allowing him to overtake. He also took a wider line into the next corner, aware of another rider nearby. He expressed regret that the situation turned out poorly, especially given the challenging weekend they had already faced.
"Following yet another challenging beginning because of the difficult conditions at that position on the grid, I managed to stage a solid recovery and was significantly faster. Currently, I'm experiencing considerable pain, particularly in my left shoulder, but it appears that nothing is broken."
“We will strive to be in peak condition for Misano.”
As the San Marino Grand Prix approaches this weekend, Bagnaia has just four days to regain his physical condition before practice starts for his home race. This scenario is quite similar to last year when he had an accident at the Catalan Grand Prix and showed up at Misano with leg injuries.
Last year, Bagnaia secured third place in both the Sprint and Grand Prix races, despite dealing with injuries. However, the impact of his recent crash in Aragon on his performance in Misano will only become evident once practice sessions begin on Friday morning.
