PayPal Foresees Continued Cross-Border E-commerce Growth in China Amid Geopolitical Strains: A Perspective from Executives
PayPal anticipates an increase in international online trading from China in spite of geopolitical instability. According to PayPal officials, innovative Chinese vendors who can efficiently meet consumer demand can expect a steady rise in global sales.
Michelle Gill, who leads PayPal's Small Business and Financial Services Group, revealed during an interview in Shenzhen on September 25, that there is a significant inclination among Chinese businesses to broaden their reach to Europe and the United States. Gill believes this trend will continue. She also pointed out that there is a local demand in the US, coupled with a strong aspiration from China to extend their market.

Gill noted that it's premature to assess the effects of this shift, however, she believes that innovative companies aiming to satisfy customers will have room to expand. She suggested that either the demand will sufficiently raise the prices making the change irrelevant, or providers will combine services to ease access.
