Nissan enthüllt neuen Patrol mit V6-Saugmotor: Mächtiger Geländewagen überspringt Elektrifizierung, bleibt aber dem Turbo fern
The latest Nissan Patrol debuts with a V6 engine
This twin of the US Armada, unfortunately, won't be available in Europe
Nissan has finally unveiled an all-new Patrol, succeeding its seventh-generation predecessor that remarkably lasted 14 years in the market. Similar to its closely related counterpart, the Armada in the United States, the new Patrol transitions away from a V8 engine. However, it continues to offer a naturally aspirated engine option. Indeed, there's a fresh model set to launch in 2024, equipped with a naturally aspirated engine that entirely bypasses the move towards electrification.
As attention gravitated towards the colossal SUV and its world debut in Abu Dhabi, featuring a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, it's noteworthy that certain markets will also offer a 3.8-liter V6 as the standard powertrain. This naturally aspirated engine boasts 320 horsepower and 386 Nm of torque, which admittedly is a step down from the previous V8 model. One might wonder, why opt for the naturally aspirated engine over the turbocharged one? Well, there are at least a couple of good reasons that come to mind.

It's expected to be more affordable as it will feature a naturally aspirated engine as the standard option. Some might predict its long-term reliability to outshine others due to the absence of twin turbos. However, the flip side includes not only reduced power and torque but also a notably increased fuel consumption.
This is especially true when taking into account that the Patrol is a large and hefty automobile, meaning the 3.8-liter naturally aspirated engine has to put in a lot of effort. Just as with the twin-turbo, power is transmitted to both axles through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
There is no information about a Nismo variant, however, it's worth noting that the previous generation of the Patrol did produce a high-performance version. It featured a slightly more aggressive look and a modest boost in horsepower, but it wasn't particularly noteworthy.
It wouldn't be shocking to see Nissan introduce another Patrol model, especially now that there's even a fully electric Ariya Nismo available. With a Skyline Nismo having been released in Japan last year, there's reason to believe Nissan is willing to expand its Nismo-branded vehicle offerings, even if it risks diluting the brand's name.
Additional classic off-road vehicles:
The Patrol will be marketed in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). In Australia, this behemoth is recognized as the Patrol rather than the Armada. Sales in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and the broader Middle Eastern area will commence on November 1st. Oddly, there has been no announcement of a diesel engine option.
