Nadhim Zahawi, previously responsible for COVID vaccines and also having served as chancellor, has declared that he will not seek re-election in the upcoming general election.

Since 2010, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Stratford-on-Avon cited his "most renowned constituent" when he penned the words: "Go to your bosom; knock there and ask your heart what it knows."

He expressed: "It's the perfect moment for a vibrant, new Conservative to strive for the privilege of serving Stratford-on-Avon."

"He mentioned, quoting from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, 'Parting is such sweet sorrow.'"

Mr. Zahawi has become the 64th incumbent Conservative MP to declare that he will not seek reelection in the anticipated general election slated for later this year.

Mr. Zahawi managed the deployment of the COVID vaccine and served as the Chancellor of the Exchequer for a brief period during the summer of 2022. Prior to this, he was the Secretary of State for Education for nearly a year.

The Member of Parliament attempted to replace Boris Johnson as the leader of the Conservative Party but failed to advance after the initial vote. Subsequently, he endorsed Liz Truss. Upon her victory, she appointed him as the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and minister for both intergovernmental relations and equalities.

In his statement, Mr. Zahawi acknowledged, "The errors I made were my own, while my achievements were possible due to the incredible individuals I've collaborated with and led."

He expressed gratitude towards his family and friends, particularly highlighting his wife Lana for her support and affection.

Rishi Sunak appointed the MP as the chairman of the Conservative Party, but he was later removed from his position after it came to light that he did not reveal he was under investigation by HMRC and the National Crime Agency. The inquiry involved a tax issue worth millions of pounds connected to his sale of shares in the polling company YouGov during his tenure as chancellor.

He admitted to">king an "unintentional and accidental" mistake following his initial claim of being unaware of the investigation and having "settled all tax dues."

In 2013, Mr. Zahawi issued an apology and agreed to reimburse a portion of a £5,822.27 claim for energy bills, following revelations that taxpayers were funding the electric power for his Warwickshire estate's stables.

The individual, now 56, originally from Baghdad, Iraq, relocated to London with his family at the age of 11 to escape the regime of Saddam Hussein.

He mentioned, "Each day, as I'm shaving my head in front of the mirror, I find myself in disbelief."

"How did a young boy from Baghdad, who arrived on these shores escaping persecution and without speaking any English, manage to accomplish as much as I did?

"Despite the hurdles we face, this nation remains the finest in the world, and it enabled me to achieve my British dream. Here, I established a successful British company, YouGov, and here, I nurtured my incredible family."

The Member of Parliament expressed feeling "profoundly honored" to serve "my nation in various capacities within the government," as he enumerated his responsibilities, among them overseeing the coordination of the Queen's funeral.

In 2017, Mr. Zahawi was barred from entering the United States to see his children at university due to a travel ban imposed by then-President Donald Trump on several predominantly Muslim countries, owing to his Iraqi birthplace.

He unexpectedly showed up in an ITV drama that focused on the Post Office IT controversy, portraying his own role as he interrogated former Post Office CEO Paula Vennells during a parliamentary committee investigation.
