### “MotoGP Stars Applaud Marc Marquez’s Triumphant Return After 1,043-Day Winless Streak
MotoGP competitors share their thoughts on Marc Marquez's win after a 1,043-day gap
MotoGP competitors express their reactions to Marc Marquez breaking a nearly three-year streak without a victory at Aragon.
Marc Marquez, who hadn't won a MotoGP race since Misano 2021 while riding for Repsol Honda, clinched a victory last Sunday at the Aragon event.
Throughout this period, the eight-time world champion underwent several arm surgeries and struggled with an underperforming RC213V. Ultimately, he decided to leave a lucrative contract with Honda in an effort to rejuvenate his career with Gresini Ducati.
Here’s what some of Marquez’s competitors, which include other world champions and both former and current teammates, shared with MotoGP.com following his win:
Jorge Martin expressed his congratulations to Marc, acknowledging the long and challenging journey he faced to return to victory, and affirmed that Marc truly deserved it. He also praised Marc as an outstanding champion.
Alex Marquez expressed his joy, saying, "I'm thrilled to see him at the top. He put in a tremendous amount of effort and was present every single day."
Aleix Espargaro: "This demonstrates true resilience. Marc is one of the world's top athletes and likely one of Spain's finest. Despite facing a tough period marked by a major injury, moving from being the star of a major team like Honda to a satellite team with an older bike, and still experiencing pain from his injuries, he managed to make a comeback and secure a win. It's incredible – Marc is truly exceptional. He is arguably the best in our sport. So, congratulations to him, and let's see if he can challenge for the MotoGP title."
Marco Bezzecchi commented, "We anticipated this. He showed great strength throughout the weekend, so we knew he would come out on top today!"
Fabio Quartararo commented, “I imagine it must be incredible for him, considering he's already achieved several podium finishes this season, but nothing compares to the feeling of a win. He’s faced some difficult periods, made bold choices, and his strategy paid off significantly. So, kudos to him.”
Joan Mir: “The real comeback wasn't just today; it occurred when he decided to shift all the effort he had put in over this time. It's been incredible. He really battled hard for this. Ultimately, if you work tirelessly for something, it will eventually come. I'm really happy for him. He's a fighter and has proven that many times. Returning to the top is something he truly deserves. So, congratulations to him.”
Enea Bastianini commented on Marc's performance, saying, "Marc has been outstanding on this track from the very first lap this weekend. I understand that recovering from numerous injuries is tough, but Marc's abilities are truly remarkable."
Johann Zarco expressed confidence in Marc's ability to secure a victory on the Ducati. He anticipated that Marc would triumph immediately in Texas, given his strong track record there. However, Marc needed some time to fully acclimate to the Ducati. In Aragon, where many riders faced challenges, Marc demonstrated his prowess, proving himself as a master in tough conditions. Zarco praised Marc for his intelligence and speed, which ultimately led to his race win.
Alex Rins: "Incredible. Truly, all credit to him. Beyond just winning, he had an outstanding weekend. In every session, he was at least 0.5 seconds ahead of the next fastest rider. He was phenomenal throughout. I'm extremely pleased for him."
Miguel Oliveira: "Winning in MotoGP is never straightforward, but this weekend he made it appear effortless—almost unbelievably so! With no rivals to contest his lead, it’s clear he’s an exceptional and elite rider. It’s no shock that, given a competitive bike, he was ready to seize any chance to win."
Fabio di Giannantonio commented, "I believe today is a fantastic day for him. He led throughout the weekend, so he should be extremely pleased. He performed exceptionally well, and from our perspective, it's encouraging because it shows that the 2023 bike has winning potential in certain conditions. We need to analyze and figure out how to achieve that level of performance ourselves."
