The second iteration of the Chinese SUV expands in size providing increased space

The latest model of the MG HS is making waves with its increased size, expanded interior space, and enhanced performance capabilities. This new iteration, which falls between the C-Segment and now closer to D-Segment for SUVs, was unveiled at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The HS 2024 stands out not just for its refreshed appearance but also for its noticeable change in dimensions. Let's take a closer look at its exterior measurements and the cargo space capacity.

MG HS (2024): Dimensions

The upcoming MG HS has been designed to be more streamlined than its predecessor, featuring a lower roofline and standing at a height of 1.65 meters, which is 4 cm shorter than the previous HS model. The front end of the car looks particularly bold, with a prominent grille and elongated LED headlights that flank the body, contributing to a sharp, contemporary appearance. However, the width has only been marginally increased by 1.4 cm, bringing the total to 1.89 meters.

The increase in size is most noticeable in terms of length, with the vehicle now measuring 4.66 meters from bumper to bumper, which is 4.5 centimeters longer than the previous HS model. This growth is attributed to the redesigned proportions as well as to the wheelbase, which has expanded by nearly 5 centimeters to 2.77 meters.

MG HS: Interior and Cargo Space

This results in an exceptionally spacious interior that comfortably accommodates five passengers. The seats in the latest MG HS feature innovative designs and leather upholstery aimed at enhancing comfort and elevating the sense of quality.

The cargo space of the MG HS has expanded by 44 liters, now offering at least 507 liters when the rear seats are folded up.

The MG HS faces stiff competition in its category. Looking at some of the key and top-selling models in Europe for comparison, the Anglo-Chinese SUV is definitely up against the likes of the Kia Sportage and the Toyota Corolla Cross. While these two models are more compact, they efficiently maximize interior space.
