Mercedes Rolls Out Upgraded MGU-H and Turbo for Hamilton at Spanish Grand Prix in Bid to Combat Reliability Woes
Mercedes has announced that Lewis Hamilton will be equipped with an updated turbocharger and modified MGU-H at the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix, aiming to address the reliability problems that have recently impacted the reigning champion.
Hamilton faced the same MGU-H problems during the qualifying rounds of the Chinese Grand Prix and the Russian Grand Prix, leading Mercedes to initiate an in-depth investigation at their headquarters due to these reliability concerns.
To prevent further issues, Mercedes has updated its MGU-H design and has allocated its exclusive use to Hamilton for this weekend in Barcelona, complemented by a new turbo.
Due to the limited preparation of just a single unit by Mercedes, Nico Rosberg will continue using the current turbo and MGU-H, while he will be equipped with a new Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) for this weekend's event.
