McLaren’s Special Tribute: A Senna-Faced Supercar Honors Brazilian F1 Legend at Monaco GP, Thirty Years On
Unique Homage: McLaren Senna Emblazoned with Senna's Portrait
Thirty years after his passing, McLaren pays homage to the Brazilian Formula 1 icon at the Monaco GP
Three decades since the tragic passing of Formula 1 icon Ayrton Senna during the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994, the world pays its final respects. For this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix – a race Senna impressively won six times – McLaren is pulling out all the stops. McLaren's F1 cars will feature a Senna tribute livery, showcasing the blue, yellow, and green hues of the Brazilian flag, and the company has also custom hand-painted a Senna road car in a similar color scheme.
If the hues, the "S" emblems, and the "Senna" inscription on the rear wing don't stand out enough, McLaren has adorned the rear fenders with Senna's portrait. On the driver's side, there's an image of Senna gazing into the distance, whereas on the passenger side, he's depicted wearing a helmet.

The featured McLaren Senna is a pre-production model preserved by McLaren in their collection. Along with the exterior redesign, the interior boasts yellow seats and features a quote from Senna along with his autograph on the door panel. The iconic quote translates to: "I don't have idols. I admire work, dedication, and competence."
The vehicle is adorned inside and out with the race numbers that were on Senna's cars during his five consecutive Monaco victories with McLaren from 1989 to 1993. His 1987 victory was achieved driving for Lotus.
During the previous Formula 1 race in Imola, which marks the 30-year anniversary of Senna's tragic accident, there were several noteworthy events. For instance, Sebastian Vettel, a four-time F1 Champion, took honor laps in Senna's 1993 McLaren while donning a helmet painted in Senna's colors and a yellow racing suit. Additionally, there was a commemorative run involving all the drivers.
So, if you're fortunate enough to be at the F1 race in Monaco, you should keep your eyes peeled.
