Marquez’s Stunning Recovery to Second at Le Mans Hailed as Victory by Ducati’s Dall’Igna Amid Intense MotoGP Season
Gigi Dall'Igna commends Marc Marquez for his remarkable comeback, equating his surge from 13th to second place at Le Mans to winning the race.
Marc Marquez impressively climbed from 13th position to secure a second-place finish at Le Mans, marking it as one of the standout performances of the 2024 MotoGP season.
Jorge Martin's victories in both events might undermine his prospects of clinching the second primary Ducati spot for 2025, yet Marquez made another impactful showing.

KTM and Red Bull initiate bold move to recruit Jorge Martin
Since teaming up with the Italian manufacturer, Marquez has consistently shown exceptional performance. Following a particularly impressive weekend, especially considering the challenges he encountered in Friday's practice sessions, it's no wonder that Gigi Dall’Igna is once again lavishing him with commendations.
Dall'Igna remarked: "Marquez demonstrated his remarkable improvement, making significant advances by propelling his Ducati from the 13th position at the start all the way to securing the second place, which is tantamount to winning."
"He consistently finds himself at the forefront now, battling for top positions. Following a lackluster qualifying session, he managed to secure the second spot once again on Saturday with an outstanding performance."
Dall'Igna also had commendations for another racer, Martin, whose pair of victories received an evaluation.
"An outstanding performance by Martin saw him clinch victory in the Sprint Race, securing an exhilarating Grand Prix win. This came after a riveting contest that culminated in a final sprint, following a fierce competition right up to the last turn," remarked the general manager of Ducati.
"Quick and determined, he managed to capture the opportunity, moving ahead and maintaining his position, asserting himself with the appropriate level of assertiveness while also demonstrating flawless competitive endurance."
Francesco Bagnaia finished in third place at the grand prix, trailing behind his primary competitors, Martin and Marquez, after Marquez overtook him on the last lap, pushing him down to P3.
Dall’Igna described the reigning world champion's performance, noting: "Pecco demonstrated an impressive beginning, as he is known for, becoming a key figure in a highly competitive and spirited race. He showed immense dedication, both in his offensive and defensive maneuvers, embodying the true spirit of a champion. However, towards the end, he faced challenges from Martin followed by Marquez."
"A seemingly provisional outcome, yet, within the framework of a lengthy and challenging championship for all participants, these races are far from simple, and mastering the skill to secure a spot on the podium is crucial."
