Marquez Triumphs in Aragon Grand Prix Amidst Drama as Bagnaia Crashes Out
In an impressive showing at the Aragon Grand Prix, Marc Marquez led from start to finish in a MotoGP race marked by Pecco Bagnaia's collision with Alex Marquez, resulting in Bagnaia's exit from the competition.
At the Aragon Grand Prix within the MotoGP series, Marc Marquez secured his inaugural Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving this victory with remarkable dominance.
Dominating from start to finish, Marquez showcased incredible speed and ultimately triumphed, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin increased his lead in the championship to 23 points by finishing second, following an incident where Francesco Bagnaia was knocked out of the race after colliding with Alex Marquez, who also crashed as a result of their contact.
Bagnaia was making significant progress through the pack, having to recover from a less than ideal start due to his rear tyre losing grip on the unclean part of the starting grid. He initially found himself in seventh place when the race began, moved up to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's crash, advanced to fifth as Franco Morbidelli made an error and went off track, and then climbed to fourth after pressuring Pedro Acosta into an error at the sixteenth turn.
Several circuits were completed in pursuit of Marques, who veered off course at turn 12, enabling Bagnaia to overtake him as they approached turn 13. However, during the maneuver into turn 13, Bagnaia and Marquez collided, causing both to crash.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical center, but there has been no news released regarding his health status.
The collision between the pair elevated Pedro Acosta to third position, though he was nearly 15 seconds adrift of the leader.
Brad Binder secured the fourth position, while Enea Bastianini made a remarkable comeback to finish fifth, having begun the race in 14th place. Franco Morbidelli claimed the sixth spot, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top ten.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales also withdrew from the race.
Following the race, probes were initiated targeting Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez concerning the pressure of their front tires.
