**Marc Marquez Breaks Three-Year Victory Drought with “Perfect” Aragon MotoGP Weekend**
Marc Marquez admitted that he "put pressure on himself" to achieve a "flawless" performance during the Aragon MotoGP weekend. He explained, "During the Sprint, I couldn't enjoy it because I was aware of how crucial today is."
Marc Marquez broke his nearly three-year streak without a win by securing a triumph at last weekend's Aragon MotoGP, a success he called a "perfect" weekend.
Marquez dominated all three practice sessions, secured pole position with an impressive lead of 0.8 seconds, triumphed in the Sprint race decisively, and finished the Grand Prix on Sunday five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
The only session not dominated by Marquez was the Warm Up, which remained damp due to rain from Saturday night through Sunday morning. Marquez did not record a lap time in this session.
Marquez shared his thoughts during the post-race press conference, describing the weekend as flawless. "We dominated every session," he said, "except for the Warm Up, where I chose, along with my team, to remain in the garage."
Marquez discussed the emotional tension he experienced during nearly three years without a win and the sense of relief he felt when he crossed the finish line to secure his 60th victory in the premier class.
"We felt incredible from the start of the race," he mentioned. "The race was extremely long, and it was tough to keep my emotions in check during the final laps, but crossing the finish line felt like I shed 3–4kg."
"Due to the increasing weight and difficulty on my back with each step, winning this was an unbelievable accomplishment. Right away, thoughts of the entire journey, the people who supported me, my family, my girlfriend, and my brother Alex Marquez filled my mind."
“They provided significant assistance, and the Gresini team, in particular, offered me a chance. As a newcomer, I aimed to put in my best effort, and we succeeded. Now, we have set new goals and continue to move forward.”
Marquez gained a significant lead during the race, allowing him to contemplate during the last few laps.
"In the final three laps, I was already thinking about being on the podium," he remarked. "But beyond the podium, the atmosphere in the Gresini garage is always lively and cheerful; it's like a constant celebration around them."
"Besides that, the initial factor was the individuals surrounding me. In times of extreme hardship and deep challenges, having a team of genuinely compassionate people who are more affected by the situation than I am made all the difference."
"The celebration felt quite unusual as the excitement and adrenaline were actually higher in other races where I finished second or third. Today’s feeling was more about emotion rather than adrenaline."
After leading in all sessions except for the rainy Warm Up on Sunday morning, Marquez confessed to feeling some pressure to finish his weekend with a win in the Grand Prix.
"I felt a lot of stress today," he mentioned. "In the Sprint event yesterday, I wasn't having fun because I was aware of the significance of today and understood that I had a crucial chance ahead of me."
"Therefore, I aimed to stay focused. When you're fast, it seems like you can handle things well, maintain consistency, and make smart decisions; but fundamentally, you're the same person. Without speed, however, managing the situation becomes extremely challenging."
"Let's aim to improve our speed in the upcoming races and try to compete closely with the top contenders."
Marquez views this win as being on par with his triumph at the 2021 German Grand Prix, which marked his first victory since suffering an arm injury during the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix.
Marquez mentioned that he considers it to be on par with his experience in Germany in 2021.
"When facing numerous injuries and challenging times, the significance of each win changes."
"Indeed, I have secured 60 wins, but those two triumphs, along with my initial MotoGP victory, hold the greatest significance. They boost your confidence in a unique manner, providing an additional sense of assurance."
"I hadn't felt well for quite a while, and the laps this weekend were brief. I was just riding effortlessly, in a state of flow, but I was intensely focused on not making any errors."
Even though Marquez had already participated in 12 race weekends with the Gresini Ducati team, he mentioned that he realized winning was achievable from his initial ride on the Desmosedici during the Valencia test at the close of 2023.
During the Valencia test, I understood that a race victory is within reach," Marquez mentioned. "It was then that I recognized we will have our chances. Competing for the championship is a different matter, and for that goal, we must continue to put in the effort."
"However, it was in Valencia that I began to realize it would eventually come."
