Luca Marini Adopts Bagnaia and Martin’s Riding Style Amid Honda Struggles
Luca Marini Discusses Bagnaia and Martin's Approach: "Everyone is attempting to adopt this technique"
Luca Marini remarks, "Only these two are exerting themselves in such a manner, positioning their bodies beneath the motorcycle"
Luca Marini maintains that he has been giving his all in every lap, eagerly anticipating significant technical improvements to the Honda RC213V.
The Italian rider, who has achieved two pole positions and podium finishes with VR46, has faced a challenging beginning to his tenure with Repsol, remaining the only full-time competitor yet to score a point in 2024.
To give you an idea of the situation, Honda's leading rival, team member Joan Mir, has only managed to secure 12 out of a potential 185 points. However, Marini has found himself at the bottom of the pack in 7 out of the 10 races to date, Sprints included.
Following negative feedback from all four race riders on the prototype Honda being tested by Stefan Bradl, the team reverted to using the standard motorcycles for the past weekend's French MotoGP event.
Marini found himself at the rear in the Le Mans contests but pointed out that although he has no control over the arrival of technical enhancements, he is able to explore adjustments in his posture and approach to riding. He draws motivation from Ducati's frontrunners, Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia, in this aspect.
"Marini stated, 'Even with the outcomes we're seeing, I'm putting in effort. I'm focusing on refining my technique and my stance, especially since it's evident how Pecco and Martin are standing out by leveraging their physicality.'"
"Thus, merely these two individuals are exerting force in such a manner, positioning their bodies beneath the motorcycle to facilitate its rotation."
"In my view, this will be the crucial element for MotoGP in the coming years. Everyone is striving to implement this transformation.
"I'm on it, but with each lap, I'm giving it my all, going full throttle."
Honda competitors are primarily struggling with inadequate turning and acceleration, challenges they anticipate will be resolved in the upcoming private test at Mugello this week.
"Before departing from Le Mans, Marini expressed, “There's considerable effort ahead of us in Mugello, especially with the upcoming bike.” He’s optimistic that the latest enhancements will edge them closer to the forefront, albeit modestly.
We hold positive anticipations regarding that exam.
"Definitely, it won't transform our circumstances overnight, but in my opinion, it could be a significant enhancement. Moreover, by pursuing this path, we're positioned to take further actions as the season concludes.”
Should there be advancements with Honda at Mugello, the updated components might be deployed in the upcoming Catalan Grand Prix this weekend.
