A prominent member of the Labour Party has disclosed that he is undergoing treatment following the detection of skin cancer in his lung.
Sir Chris Bryant revealed to Sky News that he began immunotherapy three months ago following a standard scan that identified a melanoma in his right lung back in January.
A 62-year-old underwent a surgical procedure in which his lung was temporarily collapsed to allow a robot to remove the melanoma. Subsequently, his lung was re-inflated.

Five years prior, Sir Chris underwent surgery to remove a melanoma from his scalp, following a prognosis that gave him a 40% chance of surviving for a year. Consequently, he undergoes biannual scans.
The shadow minister for creative industries informed Kay Burley of Sky News, "The latest scan results were inconclusive this time around."
Doctors discovered what they believed to be a melanoma, not lung cancer but rather skin cancer, in my lung, which is clearly a grave concern.
"That indicates stage four metastatic cancer, which is extremely alarming."

The representative from Rhondda mentioned that if he had skipped his most recent scan, he probably would have found himself visiting the doctor in a year or a year and a half with severe chest issues.
"It would have been fatal. Fortunately, they've removed it," he stated.
Currently, I am cancer-free. I underwent a scan and it showed no signs of the disease.
"I'm undergoing immunotherapy treatments."
On social media, Sir Chris subsequently described the treatment as "challenging," yet he remains fully optimistic about being entirely free of cancer for the remainder of his life.
