A recently elected Labour MP has issued an apology following the reappearance of several inappropriate tweets they posted over ten years ago.
Lauren Edwards, who recently defeated the Tories in Rochester and Strood, admitted to making a "significant error of judgment" for which she is "deeply sorry."

She didn't specifically mention the posts in question, but screenshots of the now-removed tweets, which have not been confirmed as authentic, are making rounds on the internet.
A tweet from June 2009 stated: "I need these f****** Estonian idiots out of my apartment immediately!"
A different post, seemingly in reply to someone named Baroness Wrenthorpe, stated: "Baroness Wrenthorpe messaged me from Walthamstow about spotting a halal Pakistani Chinese Grill spot. I hope he's not hinting that we should visit it."
Ms. Edwards also posted on Twitter: "Is the cleaning crew taking a break as well? My desk is starting to resemble Saturn with all these coffee stains."

From 2008 to 2013, Ms. Edwards from Australia served as a research assistant for several Labour Members of Parliament, such as Barbara Keeley, Teresa Pearce, and Lisa Nandy.
On Thursday, Ms. Edwards stated, "I have come to realize there were a few tweets I sent out more than ten years ago that I sincerely regret now.
"I made a major mistake in my decision-making, and I sincerely apologize for it.
Since I assumed the role of a local councillor and subsequently became a Member of Parliament, I have personally witnessed the critical role of uniting communities and fostering an environment of tolerance and respect for everyone in our society.
"I commit to utilizing my position to persist in this crucial endeavor and devote my efforts to the service of every inhabitant of Rochester and Strood."

Ms. Edwards secured her seat in Parliament during the July general election, receiving 15,403 votes.
She defeated Conservative MP Kelly Tolhurst, who had served the Kent constituency since 2015.
