KTM Motorsport Director Addresses Marc Marquez Rumors: Balancing Ambition and Team Harmony for 2025
KTM clarifies their stance on acquiring Marc Marquez for 2025
"It's important for us to ensure not too many competitors are clashing at the same tier"
KTM has issued a statement following inquiries about their decision to sign Marc Marquez.
Marquez has set his sights on securing a promotion to Ducati's official team by 2025.
However, he emphasized following last weekend's French MotoGP that his quest for a factory bike wasn't influenced by the "color or the brand."
This suggestion appeared to pave the way for potential partnerships with brands such as KTM, Aprilia, or Pramac Ducati.
However, KTM's head of motorsport, Pit Beirer, has now expressed his opinion.
"Marc Marquez has served as an inspiration to us in the realm of MotoGP," Beirer expressed to Motorsport-Magazin.
"We hold Marc in high regard. However, I believe that pursuing this path is not a feasible choice for us.
"One must consider the harsh period Marc has endured."
"Last summer, I had a conversation with him, and his only wish was to discover a motorcycle that would enable him to be fully competitive."
He aimed to reclaim his leading position with this bicycle, and he succeeded in doing so.
This is why I believe he won't switch brands another time, as that would signify a fresh start for him.
"Marc possesses exceptional riding skills, however, discussing his recruitment doesn't seem to be a practical possibility."
Answer the phone with a welcoming tone.
For the upcoming season, KTM has secured Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta, while Jack Miller and Augusto Fernandez have contracts nearing their end.
The roster of riders for the 2025 MotoGP season largely depends on who Ducati chooses to pair with Pecco Bagnaia.
Marquez from Gresini and Jorge Martin from Pramac are both contenders to take over Enea Bastianini's position, with a verdict expected by the time the Mugello race starts on May 31.
KTM is aware that those let down by Ducati's choice would emerge as potential options in the rider marketplace.
"Beirer highlighted that Ducati currently boasts an abundance of truly outstanding talents in the sport."
"However, caution is key. In Pedro, we possess a true gem yet to be fully polished, and in Brad, someone incredibly formidable."
"It's crucial that we avoid allowing an excessive number of participants to challenge one another simultaneously, to preserve a positive environment within the project."
Naturally, we're eager to witness the developments at Ducati.
Numerous competitors are eager to secure a spot on their factory team, and inevitably, there will be those left feeling disheartened when they don't make the cut.
"Obviously, it's important to answer the call with a warm tone whenever someone rings…"
