Jorge Martin Nears 2025 Factory Ducati Deal Amid Accelerated Negotiations
Talks between Jorge Martin and Ducati speed up to reach a deal for 2025
"Discussions have quickly intensified over the past few days"
According to Italian media, Jorge Martin is the frontrunner to secure the 2025 factory Ducati seat.
Pramac's Martin, alongside Gresini’s Marc Marquez and the existing team rider Enea Bastianini, are contenders for securing the premier motorcycle from the Italian brand for the upcoming season.
The full roster of riders for the 2025 MotoGP season hinges on a significant choice that Ducati is reportedly on the brink of finalizing.
According to a report by Gazzetta, Martin has been selected over Marquez.
"Recently, the talks have gained significant momentum," reports an Italian newspaper as the MotoGP in Mugello approaches this weekend.
A deal between Ducati and Martin could be finalized soon, but it won't be officially disclosed.
"Following an extensive period of analysis, gatherings, and dialogues, Ducati became persuaded that letting go of the Spaniard was not an option," reported the newspaper.
"Ducati understands that letting Martin go is not an option."
Ducati has made it clear that they will not announce their riders for the 2025 season at their local race this weekend.
Martin heads into the seventh stage of the 2024 MotoGP season leading the championship standings.
He leads Pecco Bagnaia, the current champion, by a margin of 39 points, holding the second position.
Marquez and Bastianini, both of whom have yet to secure a victory this season, are hot on their heels.
Martin has been overlooked for a promotion to the premier Ducati team on two separate occasions.
In 2022, Bastianini was chosen over him.
In the previous year, Martin's inability to secure the championship in the ultimate race prevented him from achieving an automatic upgrade that would have allowed him to take Bastianini's place.
Ultimately, based on what's being said in Ducati's homeland, Martin is expected to don the red colors come 2025.
