**Jorge Martin Blindsided: Ducati’s Factory Seat U-Turn Favors Marquez, Spurs Major MotoGP Shifts**
Jorge Martin expressed feeling foolish after Ducati's decision to not offer him a factory MotoGP seat for 2025. The Pramac rider voiced his disappointment over Ducati's reversal of their rider selection for the upcoming season.
Jorge Martin expressed feelings of embarrassment after Ducati reversed their decision to advance him to their factory MotoGP team for 2025, opting instead to promote Marc Marquez.
After securing second place in last year's championship and being at the top of the points standings in the early part of the 2024 season, Pramac racer Martin appeared to be the leading candidate to team up with Francesco Bagnaia at Ducati's factory team in 2025.
In the lead-up to the Italian Grand Prix in late May, Ducati notified Martin that he had been chosen.
However, when Marquez openly declined the offer of a factory bike from Pramac and indicated he had alternatives with other manufacturers, it led to a state of alarm for Ducati's CEO, Claudio Domenicalli.
As a result, Ducati changed its mind about promoting Martin and chose to offer the factory spot to Marquez. This decision compelled the current championship leader to secure a factory contract with Aprilia.
In an interview with DAZN, Martin expressed that his frustration stemmed more from not being chosen rather than the decision to select Marquez or possibly renew Enea Bastianini's contract.
The individual expressed deep frustration, feeling like a fool for putting in so much effort to prove themselves to someone who ultimately didn't care about their efforts.
"Ultimately, it turned out that I managed the situation better than everyone else around me; it wasn't as difficult as it appeared."
"That moment was joyful because I felt like I could find another place where I was deeply loved."
According to Martin, Ducati's reversal of its initial decision to offer Marquez the seat occurred so rapidly that there was no opportunity to reflect on it.
"It happened so quickly that it felt effortless. By that afternoon, my mindset had already shifted, so it was really fast," he remarked.
Marquez's strategic move to secure the factory Ducati position ended up having broader consequences for the Italian company.
Pramac will no longer serve as its satellite partner in 2025, following the team's agreement with Yamaha.
Additionally, Enea Bastianini will be departing to join KTM next year. Marco Bezzecchi, whose chances of securing a factory Ducati seat in 2024 seemed slim due to his difficulties adjusting to the GP23, will team up with Martin at Aprilia.
