Jorge Martin Addresses Rumor Mill Amid Intense MotoGP Title Battle and Ducati Seat Speculation
Jorge Martin discusses dealing with speculation amidst competition among four racers
Jorge Martin states, "To me, this doesn't feel like pressure."
Jorge Martin has discussed his approach to managing speculation as he currently tops the MotoGP rankings.
The rider from Pramac currently leads the defending champion, Pecco Bagnaia, by 38 points after the completion of five rounds.
Martin finds himself in a tough competition with Enea Bastianini, who is third in the championship standings, and Marc Marquez, ranked fourth, for the coveted Ducati spot next to Bagnaia in the 2025 MotoGP team roster.
"Sky Italia complimented you on how well you are managing all the speculation regarding your future," he was informed.
Martin responded, "Indeed, but personally, I don't feel pressured by it.
"As a newcomer, I faced the challenge of winning races. Failing to do so meant I could lose the chance to continue racing on a motorbike."
Imagine that I've spent a considerable amount of time training in the past…
"Certainly, I wish I had a definite understanding of what my future holds, but ultimately, great outcomes require patience and a bit of waiting."
Regarding the possibility of his promotion to the factory Ducati team next year, Martin stated, "Regrettably, I'm in the dark about that. I wish I could share some information with you.
"I believe the conclusion is near, with the outcome expected to be determined in the upcoming two races."
"However, I believe my performance will remain consistent, whether racing in Barcelona or Mugello, you'll witness the same competitor on the circuit."
"I'm competing against remarkable champions"
Martin, the rider currently at the top of his game, is engaged in a legendary contest with Bagnaia and Marquez.
This past weekend in Le Mans, while Marquez captured attention with a last-minute overtake on Bagnaia, it was indeed Martin who took center stage throughout the event.
"I'm competing against remarkable athletes: Marquez with 8 world championships, Pecco with 3."
"Securing a victory over these competitors is wonderful and also motivates me looking ahead."
"I don't believe there's anything left for me to demonstrate, as I've accomplished it already."
"Now I'm competing on my own and aiming to achieve outcomes."
"I believe every rider aspires to join a factory team, and for me, now seems like the perfect moment. It feels like completing a full circle…"
Martin and Bagnaia once shared a team in the Moto3 category.
Martin mentioned that their bond continues to be "very strong," and further stated, "We hold a great deal of respect for one another. We frequently meet and always engage in conversation."
"In Moto3, it felt more like a playful competition. We shared a room for two years and became really close friends."
"Now we compete for similar goals, and the competition has intensified, but the bond is rooted in respect and esteem, as he has achieved remarkable feats."
Having fallen short of clinching the 2023 title on the last day, Martin is in a strong position to improve on that outcome this year.
"We have quite a distance to cover, it's not on my mind at the moment," he expressed.
"I consistently put forth my utmost effort, though at times I may feel more vigorous and at others not as much. My ultimate aim is to perform to the best of my ability."
"I aim to fully embrace each experience and enjoy myself, instead of solely focusing on the ultimate win."
"By the year's end, there might certainly be a chance to strive for the world championship, yet at this moment, it's not on my mind."
