Jeremy Clarkson Predicts Aston Martin’s F1 Dominance Following Adrian Newey Signing
Jeremy Clarkson believes Aston Martin will become a significant player following the recruitment of Adrian Newey. Clarkson comments on Newey's addition to the Aston Martin team.
Renowned television host Jeremy Clarkson believes that Aston Martin will become a dominant competitor in Formula 1 following the addition of Adrian Newey to their team.
Aston Martin had a significant day on Tuesday when they revealed that Newey would be joining them as their new technical director.
Starting in 2025, Newey will lead the organization's technical team as they prepare for the upcoming regulations set to take effect in a year and a half.
Adrian Newey received offers from Ferrari, McLaren, and Williams, yet he decided to become part of Aston Martin, drawn by the ambitious initiative led by Lawrence Stroll.
During the British Grand Prix in July, Clarkson, the former host of the BBC TV show Top Gear, gave a clue regarding Newey's upcoming plans.
"Would you like an exclusive scoop? I have information that Adrian Newey is searching for a home in Oxfordshire, not Maranello," Clarkson revealed to the Dutch network Viaplay.
While appearing on the Heart radio station in the UK during Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden's breakfast show, Clarkson commented on the news regarding Newey.
Clarkson stated, "I revealed that news about a month and a half ago. While everyone was speculating that he was heading to Ferrari, I had a conversation with him, and he mentioned, 'I'm searching for a house in your area.'"
“I wondered, ‘Why would you purchase a house in Oxfordshire if you’re moving to Ferrari?’ As for Aston, they’re definitely going to succeed.”
Theakston replied, "He's pretty talented, isn't he?"
Clarkson wrapped up by saying, “He’s extremely talented, and with their seemingly endless financial resources, I believe Aston is set to become a significant contender.”
Adrian Newey is scheduled to start his role at Aston Martin in March 2025.
