Jeremy Clarkson Foresees Aston Martin’s F1 Dominance with Adrian Newey’s Arrival
Jeremy Clarkson believes Aston Martin will become a major player following Adrian Newey's appointment.
Famed television host Jeremy Clarkson has predicted that Aston Martin will become a significant contender in Formula 1 following their acquisition of Adrian Newey.
Tuesday marked a significant milestone for Aston Martin with the announcement of Newey's appointment as their new technical director.
Starting in 2025, Newey will take charge of the organization's technical group in preparation for the upcoming regulations set to take effect in a year and a half.
Newey received offers from Ferrari, McLaren, and Williams, yet he was drawn to Aston Martin, captivated by the ambitious project led by Lawrence Stroll.
In July, during the British Grand Prix, Clarkson, formerly of the BBC TV program Top Gear, teased information about Newey's upcoming plans.
"Are you interested in a scoop? Clarkson revealed to Dutch broadcaster Viaplay that Adrian Newey is currently looking for a house in Oxfordshire, not in Maranello."
During an interview on the Heart radio station's morning program hosted by Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, Clarkson shared his thoughts on the recent developments involving Newey.
Clarkson revealed, "I was the first to report on that story around six weeks back. Despite rumors of him moving to Ferrari, when I encountered him, he mentioned he was house hunting in my area."
"I pondered, 'Why would you purchase a home in Oxfordshire if you're heading to Ferrari?' Aston, they're destined for victory."
Theakston remarked, "He's pretty talented, isn't he?"
Clarkson summed up his thoughts by saying, “He's extremely talented, and it appears they have an endless amount of funds. I believe Aston will become a significant competitor.”
Newey is set to start his tenure at Aston Martin in March 2025.
