Huawei’s $2800 Mate XT Tri-Fold Handset to Compete with Apple’s iPhone 16: Launch Set for Same Day, Promising Lower Production Costs in Future
Huawei has revealed its new $2,800 Mate XT tri-fold phone, setting it up to compete with Apple's iPhone 16. The Mate XT will be officially available for purchase starting September 20, coinciding with the launch of Apple's iPhone 16 in the mainland market.
"For years, we've put in significant work to address the mass production issue of the hinges," Yu stated during the unveiling of the Mate XT in Shenzhen. "Our aim is to enhance the production efficiency in order to reduce the overall manufacturing costs."
The Mate XT began accepting pre-orders during the weekend and by Tuesday afternoon, it had already received over 4 million reservations. The smartphone's official launch is slated for September 20th, coincidentally the same day Apple commences its retail sales of the iPhone 16 in the mainland.
