Honor Dethrones Samsung to Reign Supreme in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leader in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei achieved this status in Western Europe, which is the second-biggest market for foldable phones, following China.
Honor, a smartphone company from China, has outperformed Samsung Electronics to take the top spot as the leading producer of foldable smartphones in Western Europe, as per information from the industry consulting firm Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, has become the top player in the foldable handset market in the second quarter for the first time. The Counterpoint report indicates that Western Europe, the second-biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a highly competitive arena for brands like Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus and Google.
Honor, known for introducing its well-liked Magic V2 book-style device internationally last September, witnessed a 455 per cent surge in its worldwide foldable deliveries during the second quarter. This represents the most significant annual growth across all brands, according to the report.
Worldwide, Huawei, Honor's local competitor, retained its position as the top foldable-phone brand for the second quarter in a row, largely due to its robust performance in the Chinese market, as per a separate report by Counterpoint.
