Honor Dethrones Samsung to Reign Supreme in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone industry. For the first time, this offshoot of Huawei has achieved this status in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones, following China.
According to information from industry consulting firm Counterpoint Research, the Chinese smartphone company Honor has outperformed Samsung Electronics, becoming the leading manufacturer of foldable devices in Western Europe.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, became the leading brand in the second quarter for the first time. Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones after China, sees intense competition among manufacturers such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google. This information comes from a recent report by Counterpoint.
Honor, the brand that released its widely acclaimed Magic V2 book-style foldable gadget outside of China in the previous September, witnessed a 455% surge in its worldwide foldable product deliveries in the second quarter. This was the most significant annual increase among all brands, as indicated in the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has retained its position as the leading brand in the foldable-phone market for the second quarter in a row, due largely to its robust performance in China, as per another analysis from Counterpoint.
