Honor Dethrones Samsung to Reign Supreme in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leader in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei has seized the top position in Western Europe, which ranks second after China in terms of the largest foldable phone market.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has outperformed Samsung Electronics, securing the top spot as the leading producer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per the data from Counterpoint Research, a market analysis firm.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, claimed the top spot in the second quarter for the first time. According to a recent Counterpoint report, Western Europe, being the second biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a competitive field for companies such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google.
Honor, the company that introduced its widely acclaimed book-like Magic V2 to markets beyond China in September of the previous year, experienced a 455% surge in its worldwide shipments of foldable units in the second quarter. This represents the highest annual growth rate among all brands, according to the report.
Worldwide, Huawei, Honor's local competitor, retained its position as the leading brand in the foldable-phone sector for two quarters in a row, largely due to its robust performance in the Chinese market, as per a separate report from Counterpoint.
