Honor Dethrones Samsung to Reign Supreme in West Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the offshoot of Huawei has gained this position in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones following China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has outperformed Samsung Electronics to take the top spot as the leading manufacturer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per the data from the industry consultancy firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, has emerged as the leader in the second quarter for the first time. Western Europe ranks second to China as the biggest market for foldable phones. It is a highly competitive arena consisting of key players such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per the latest report by Counterpoint.
Honor, after releasing its well-liked book-style Magic V2 internationally last September, experienced a surge in worldwide foldable sales by 455 per cent in the second quarter. This is the highest annual growth rate among all brands, as indicated by the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has maintained its position as the leading brand in the foldable-phone sector for two successive quarters, due to their significant success in the Chinese market, as per a separate report from Counterpoint.
