Honor Dethrones Samsung: Takes Lead in Western Europe’s Foldable Smartphone Market
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leader in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the company that originated from Huawei seized the top position in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones following China.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has outperformed Samsung Electronics to emerge as the leading manufacturer of foldable devices in Western Europe, as per the information provided by Counterpoint Research, a market analysis firm.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, became the leader in the second quarter for the first time. Western Europe, being the second biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a strong competitive field for brands such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google, as per a recent report by Counterpoint.
Honor, who debuted its widely popular Magic V2 book-like design outside of China in September of the previous year, experienced a substantial increase in its worldwide foldable shipments. The second quarter saw a rise of 455 per cent, marking the most significant annual growth across all brands, as indicated in the report.
Worldwide, Huawei, Honor's local competitor, has maintained its position as the leading brand in the foldable smartphone industry for the second quarter in a row, largely due to its impressive performance in the Chinese market, as per a separate report from Counterpoint.
