Hamilton to Run Upgraded Turbo and MGU-H at Spanish GP as Mercedes Tackles Reliability Issues
Mercedes has announced that Lewis Hamilton will be equipped with an updated turbocharger and a modified MGU-H for the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix. This decision aims to address and resolve the recent reliability problems that have affected the reigning champion.
Hamilton experienced the same MGU-H problems during the qualifying sessions for both the Chinese and Russian Grand Prix. These reliability issues have led Mercedes to launch a comprehensive investigation at their headquarters.
To prevent further issues, Mercedes has updated its MGU-H design and provided Hamilton with sole access to it for the Barcelona event this weekend, along with a new turbocharger.
Due to Mercedes having time to prepare just one unit, Nico Rosberg will continue using the current turbo and MGU-H but will get a new internal combustion engine (ICE) for this weekend.
