Grid Penalty for Sainz After Impeding Massa During German GP Qualifying
Carlos Sainz has been moved down three places on the starting grid for the German Grand Prix following a penalty for obstructing Felipe Massa in the qualifying round at Hockenheim.
Sainz was seen driving on the racing line into the second turn during the second qualifying round, causing Williams' Massa to go off track and spoiling his lap.
Despite Massa advancing to Q3, in contrast to Sainz who finished 13th, the officials decided to penalize the Spanish driver for his violation, demoting him to a temporary 16th place starting position on the grid.
