Ferrari Overhauls F1 Technical Team in Anticipation of Lewis Hamilton’s 2025 Arrival
Ferrari reveals major changes to their F1 technical team in preparation for Lewis Hamilton joining in 2025.
Ferrari has revealed multiple modifications to their Formula 1 technical team in anticipation of Lewis Hamilton joining in 2025, with notable moves such as hiring former Mercedes leader Loic Serra as the technical director for chassis.
In May, the Italian team announced that Serra would be joining them, along with Jerome d'Ambrosio.
At first, Serra was revealed to be the leader of chassis performance engineering and was set to report straight to Enrico Cardile.
Nevertheless, Cardile has departed from the team to join Aston Martin, allowing Serra to step into the role of technical director for chassis.
Ferrari is undergoing a major technical reorganization in anticipation of Hamilton joining the team in 2025.
Hamilton is set to conclude his 12-year tenure with Mercedes as he transitions to Ferrari to team up with Charles Leclerc.
On Thursday morning, Ferrari issued a statement saying: “Scuderia Ferrari HP has appointed Loic Serra as the new Technical Director Chassis.”
As previously stated, the French engineer, born in 1972, is set to become part of the team starting October 1. In his new position, Loic will be reporting directly to Team Principal Fred Vasseur.
"Consequently, Serra will oversee several departments: Chassis Project Engineering, led by Fabio Montecchi; Vehicle Performance, under the direction of Marco Adurno; Aerodynamics, managed by Diego Tondi; Track Engineering, supervised by Matteo Togninalli; and Chassis Operations, directed by Diego Ioverno, who will also maintain his position as Sporting Director."
Enrico Gualtieri will remain the Technical Director for the Power Unit, and he will report directly to Fred Vasseur.
Reports had strongly associated Ferrari with Adrian Newey after Red Bull revealed in Miami that he would depart from the team in early 2025.
The 65-year-old is anticipated to become a member of the Aston Martin team.
