Fernando Alonso Gears Up for Legendary Collaboration with Adrian Newey at Aston Martin
"Fernando Alonso is thrilled about the remarkable opportunity to collaborate with Adrian Newey, a legendary figure in F1 design."
Fernando Alonso is eagerly anticipating the “amazing chance” to collaborate with Adrian Newey after the iconic F1 designer becomes part of the Aston Martin team.
Aston Martin announced the appointment of Newey as Managing Technical Partner after his departure from Red Bull during a press conference on Tuesday at their high-end Silverstone F1 headquarters.
The individual, aged 65, with a career that includes 25 world championship victories from his time with teams such as Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull, is set to begin his tenure as the head of Aston Martin's technical department starting March 1, 2025.
Newey is set to team up with double world champion Alonso, who is eagerly looking forward to the opportunity to pilot the vehicles designed by the Brit.
"For several years, we've been competing with each other. I consider him a source of inspiration," Alonso expressed during the Aston Martin press event.
Due to Adrian's skill and vehicles, everyone improved. Whether it was drivers, mechanics, or entire racing squads, we were compelled to elevate our standards just to stay competitive with him.
"Today marks an extraordinary milestone for our crew. The blueprint Lawrence set forth is coming to life through this structure, alongside Adrian, with Honda, Aramco, and the introduction of the new wind tunnel. Without a doubt, we're looking at the team that will lead us into the future."
To me, collaborating with Adrian presents a remarkable career opportunity.
Privately, it presents an amazing chance to collaborate with individuals from whom there is a great deal to gain.
"A few weeks back, I had a conversation with Lance about the amazing chance we've got to see and collaborate with Lawrence and all the folks at Aston Martin."
"Certainly, our experiences are broadening both in our professional pursuits and in our personal lives. This encompasses our overall development."
Lance Stroll, a team member, expressed that the unveiling was "the team's most thrilling day ever."
"Adrian has secured more titles than any other competitor here, and today, he's donned in green. It's a truly thrilling occasion," he continued.
"The year 2026 is just around the corner, bringing with it a fresh series of rules and ample chances for growth. We are in the process of building an amazing team, comprised of numerous skilled individuals who are already with us, and the addition of Adrian to our ranks makes it all the more thrilling."
