End of the Road for Ricciardo? F1 Paddock Buzz Suggests Imminent Seat Loss at Red Bull
Rumors in the racing circuit suggest that Daniel Ricciardo is widely anticipated to be on his way out of Formula 1
Insinuations are growing that Daniel Ricciardo's tenure in Formula 1 might be coming to an end
Ted Kravitz has suggested that there's a widespread belief Daniel Ricciardo will not retain his Formula 1 seat with Red Bull Racing for the 2025 season.
Rumors started circulating within the Monza racetrack during the recent Italian Grand Prix weekend.
Ricciardo has candidly expressed his concerns regarding the possibility of losing his racing seat next year.
Sky Sports' Kravitz speculated in Italy, asking, "Will RB reveal their driver lineup before the Azerbaijan Grand Prix?"
Everyone anticipates it. Ricciardo essentially signaled it on Thursday.
"Does that mean Liam Lawson will be teaming up with Yuki Tsunoda as his partner next year?"
"That's what everyone anticipates."
The disclosure comes as a harsh setback for Ricciardo.
His current contract concludes with this season's end, and there are only two open spots left in the 2025 Formula 1 driver roster.
RB (Ricciardo's present team) and Sauber are in discussions over their driver selections ahead of finalizing next year's lineup.
Red Bull's top executive, Helmut Marko, recently intensified expectations on Ricciardo by stating that their backup driver, Lawson, is assured a racing position in 2025.
Every indication suggested that Lawson was set to take over Ricciardo's position
However, Christian Horner elaborated on Marko's comments, indicating that Lawson was not definitively assigned to any of their teams' vehicles.
"Ricciardo mentioned in Monza the previous weekend that he hasn't experienced any undue stress."
"No one has ever physically guided me into a room with a warning to follow orders, or face consequences…"
"I understand what needs to be done. Perhaps it's not necessary to have a stern conversation. Helmut and I go way back. Everyone is aware of what needs to be accomplished.
"Has he imposed additional stress on me or acted unfairly? Absolutely not.
"I don't experience any extra effects from it. However, I'm aware of what's needed."
Ricciardo collided with Haas team driver Nico Hulkenberg, incurring two time penalties during the Italian Grand Prix, ultimately resulting in a disappointing 13th place finish.
He is set to take control of the RB once more in Baku, following speculations in Monza regarding his potential midseason replacement.
However, it's possible that the window for Ricciardo to sufficiently impress Red Bull's management and secure a contract renewal has already closed.
