DJI Warns Proposed US Drone Restrictions Could Damage Public Safety and Economy; Faces Potential FCC Blacklisting
DJI has expressed concerns that the proposed US drone regulation could potentially endanger public safety and impact the economy negatively. The bill, put forward by the US House of Representatives, seeks to add DJI to a national security blacklist under the auspices of the Federal Communications Commission.
"It's unfortunate to witness public policy debates once more influenced by political agendas instead of reality. However, DJI continues to pledge its dedication towards interacting proactively with legislators to clear up misunderstandings about our brand," a DJI spokesperson conveyed on Tuesday in a comment to the South China Morning Post.
The spokesperson for DJI argued that the suggested limitation, which is solely based on the country of origin, could potentially damage American interests and inadvertently harm the very sector Congress aims to aid.
The firm highlighted the extensive use of its drones by national bodies, local police units, emergency services, and small businesses across industries such as real estate, farming, and transportation.
