DJI Warns of Potential Harm to Public Safety & Economy Amidst Proposed U.S. Drone Restrictions: A National Security Blacklist Controversy
DJI claims that a proposed US legislation enforcing additional drone regulations may jeopardize public safety and the economy. The bill from the US House of Representatives seeks to place DJI on a national security blacklist overseen by the Federal Communications Commission.
"It's discouraging to witness public policy debates yet again influenced by political motivations instead of factual data. However, DJI continues to be dedicated to proactively interacting with legislators to clear up misunderstandings about our brand," a spokesperson from DJI stated on Tuesday when addressing the South China Morning Post.
The spokesperson for DJI stated that the suggested limitation, which is entirely based on the nation of origin, would not only jeopardize American interests, but it also damages the exact industry that Congress aims to assist.
The firm highlighted how its drones are extensively utilized by government departments, local policing authorities, emergency response teams, and small-scale businesses in industries such as real estate, farming, and transportation.
