Danilo Petrucci Withdraws from Qatar MotoGP After Re-Damaging Hand
Petrucci Pulls Out of Qatar MotoGP
Danilo Petrucci has had to pull out of the rest of the season-opening Qatar MotoGP after re-injuring his recovering hand.
Last month, the Italian rider endured several fractures in his right hand following a crash during testing at Phillip Island. Despite this, he made his way to Losail in an attempt to participate in the race.
Early outcomes appeared favorable, however, by the conclusion of the third free practice session (FP3), Petrucci was in discomfort. An X-ray revealed a dislocated bone fragment in his third metacarpal. This indicated that some of the fractures previously mended through surgery had reopened due to the strain of riding.
Due to the issue, Petrucci will not be able to participate in the first race on Sunday and might need another surgery.
Regrettably, I fractured my hand again yesterday while riding, not from a crash. The disappointment is immense. pic.twitter.com/llXlenL0As — Danilo Petrucci (@Petrux9) March 19, 2016
