Damon Hill Advises Yuki Tsunoda to Seek Aston Martin Seat Amid Red Bull Snub
Yuki Tsunoda has been advised to reach out to Aston Martin as Red Bull F1 opportunity closes.
"If I were in his position, I would contact Aston Martin due to his Japanese heritage and the fact that Honda will be partnering with them."
Damon Hill, who won the F1 world championship in 1996, has advised Yuki Tsunoda to reach out to Aston Martin if Red Bull keeps passing him over.
Even though Yuki Tsunoda has surpassed Daniel Ricciardo in every measurable aspect this year, Red Bull is not contemplating him for a position on their main team.
Daniel Ricciardo and Liam Lawson were considered the leading candidates to take over from Perez, should Red Bull decide to make a switch.
Last week, Red Bull announced that Perez will stay in his position, at least temporarily, as he aims to regain his performance at tracks where he has historically excelled, like Baku and Singapore.
During an interview on the F1 Nation podcast, Hill suggested that Tsunoda should consider Aston Martin as Red Bull doesn't appear to have any openings.
"If I were in his position, I would be calling Aston Martin, given that he's Japanese and Honda is set to join them," Hill remarked.
Hill also implied that Max Verstappen would probably favor having Ricciardo as his teammate because of their strong bond.
Following the conclusion of the Belgian Grand Prix, they were seen departing the track together in a helicopter.
Certain enthusiasts believed it was a subtle introduction to them becoming teammates once more; however, Red Bull later debunked this notion.
“He’s correct in stating that I can’t comprehend it and that it’s illogical,” he remarked.
"When you observe images of Max departing the track alongside Daniel Ricciardo in a helicopter, both of them grinning, it gives you an impression of their camaraderie. It seems Max would be quite content having Danny Ric as his teammate."
"If he has enough influence within the team to sway that decision, then I believe there is significant pressure to include Danny."
"They've revitalized his spirit by motivating him. His performances have continually improved. It's undeniable."
