On Monday, officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, along with those in Jingyuan county of Gansu province, announced the formation of dedicated investigative teams to probe into the matter.
"The findings of the inquiry and the management of the case will be disclosed to the public promptly," stated officials from Golmud.
"Individuals found guilty of the crimes will face strict penalties in accordance with the law."
The food safety committee in Jingyuan released a comparable announcement.
