Chinese authorities to probe allegations of tainted goji berries

National media reveals illegal substances used to enhance the appearance and longevity of the berries

Officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, and Jingyuan county in Gansu province announced on Monday the formation of dedicated task forces to probe into the matter.

"Golmud officials stated that the findings of the investigation and the management of the case will be disclosed promptly."

"Authorities will impose strict penalties on those found guilty of the crimes, in accordance with the law."

The food safety committee in Jingyuan released a comparable announcement.
