Chinese authorities establish committees to probe allegations of tainted goji berries
National media reveals the application of unauthorized substances to enhance the appearance and durability of the berries
Officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, and in Jingyuan county, Gansu province, announced on Monday the formation of dedicated task forces to probe into the matter.
"Golmud officials stated that the findings of the investigation and the management of the case will be disclosed promptly."
"Individuals accountable for the violations will face strict penalties as prescribed by law."
The food safety committee of Jingyuan released a comparable announcement.
