Chinese teams to probe allegations of goji berry adulteration

National media reveals illegal substances used to enhance the appearance and longevity of berries

Officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, and in Jingyuan county of Gansu province announced on Monday the formation of special task forces dedicated to probing the matter.

"The findings of the inquiry and the management of the case will be disclosed to the public promptly," said officials in Golmud.

"Perpetrators of the crimes will face strict penalties under the law."

The food safety committee in Jingyuan released a comparable announcement.
