Commerce ministry lays down process for import of sure pulses


The commerce ministry has laid down a process for import of some sorts of pulses for the present fiscal and has invited functions from millers. In accordance with the ministry’s international commerce arm DGFT, millers and refiners of those pulses want licence for imports.

“Process for import of two lakh tonne pigeon peas/toor dal, 1.5 lakh tonne urad dal, 1.5 lakh tonne moong dal and 1.5 lakh tonne peas (together with yellow peas, inexperienced peas, dun peas, and kaspa peas) is laid down,” directorate basic of international commerce (DGFT) has mentioned in a discover.

As per the process, for every refining/processing unit, candidates must present self-certified copy of a doc indicating its refining/ processing capability.

This doc ought to be issued by a central, state or district authority.

The absence of the doc will render the applying chargeable for rejection, it mentioned.

“The licence holders shall submit month-to-month statements indicating the precise arrival of shipments on the Indian ports,” it added.

The nation has been importing 4-6 MT (million tonne) pulses yearly to satisfy the home demand of about 24 MT.

In view of the bumper output, the federal government has imposed quantitative cap on the imports.
