Chinese AI Pioneer, MiniMax, Unveils Video-01: A Text-to-Video Generator Challenging OpenAI’s Sora

China's AI powerhouse, MiniMax, has unveiled a text-to-video conversion model, positioning it as a competitor to OpenAI’s Sora. Video-01, their initial version of this Sora-like tool, is designed with future enhancements in mind, which will allow users to create videos from still pictures.

Video-01 allows a user to input a written description to produce a video that can last up to six seconds. The entire procedure, from entering the text prompt to creating the video, typically takes around two minutes.

The founder and CEO of MiniMax, Yan Junjie, announced at the event that video-01 is the initial version of the company's video-producing software. He emphasized that upcoming enhancements will allow users to create videos from pictures and to modify these videos, as reported by local news outlets.
