China’s AI Visionaries: Time Recognizes Zhuang Rongwen, Liang Rubo, and Wang Xiaochuan as Key Influencers in Global AI Landscape
Time Magazine's list of AI influencers features China’s cyberspace director, ByteDance’s chief
In its list of 30 AI leaders, Time Magazine has recognized Zhuang Rongwen, the head of China's CAC, and Liang Rubo, CEO of ByteDance, alongside Baichuan's founder Wang Xiaochuan.
Zhuang Rongwen, the head of China's Cyberspace Administration, has been recognized in the annual Time 100 AI list for the second year in a row. He is one of 15 leaders acknowledged for his efforts to implement China’s stringent censorship measures on the unpredictable generative AI technologies, while also nurturing local innovation, according to the magazine.
Other prominent AI figures from China included ByteDance Chairman and CEO Liang Rubo, along with Wang Xiaochuan, the founder of the AI startup Baichuan AI.
Over the past few years, ByteDance has placed a high emphasis on artificial intelligence. The company introduced chatbots named Cici and Doubao, along with the Jimeng AI video generator. However, as ByteDance's TikTok undergoes intense political examination in the United States, Time magazine notes that there is unlikely to be any easing in the implementation of wider AI technologies.
