State broadcaster reports use of illegal additives to enhance crop's color and shelf life

Officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, along with Jingyuan county in Gansu province, announced on Monday the formation of dedicated task forces to probe into the matter.

"Golmud officials have announced that they will release information about the investigation and the management of the case promptly."

"Those accountable for the crimes will face strict penalties as dictated by the law."

The food safety committee in Jingyuan released a comparable announcement.
